I draw inspiration from the vibrant, chaotic, and polyphonic tapestry of Dominican inner-city life. My work aims to unravel the layered socioeconomic reality of the people and neighborhood of Los Minas, Santo Domingo. My goal is to celebrate and those who navigate within a lack of sufficient infrastructure without suggesting this environment is intrinsically "bad" or "less than" or that it ultimately defines them. In showing the vastness of inner city life, from routine days to exceptional moments, I hope to show a culture that is both unique from the rest of Dominican Republic and at the same in conversation with the Dominican diaspora of New York City, other cities, and inner-cities across the globe.
